The B-Wing was designed by now Admiral Ackbar and is the Alliance's strongest fighter.  It was designed and is able to take on larger capital ships.  It is one of the Alliance's fastest fighters and has many weapons.  It also has an unsusal gyro-stabilization system that allows the cockpit to remain stable while rest of the ship rotates around it.  The allows B-Wing pilots to perform moanuevers that would put to much stres on other pilots.  It is armed with three ions cannons one on each wing and one on the bottom, a laser cannon on the bottom, two small blaster cannons directly under the cockpit, and two proton torpedo launchers in the mid section.  It was a key element in the Battle of Endor for the Alliance and there was a second kind of ship called the "Expanded B-Wing" or B-Wing/E.  This ship had an expanded cockpit for two pilots, one surving as the gunner.  This greatly increases the B-Wing's success rate.  The B-Wing has appeared only in Return of the Jedi.
