Han Solo

Han Solo is the smuggler turned overall good guy of the Star Wars series. He is a little full of himself and quite gutsy, but such is the required persona of a smuggler in possesion of the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, the Millenium Falcon. Basically, he was just your ordinary smuggler until he learned the hard way that you should never fail to deliver a spice shipment for Jabba the Hutt, his employer. While on the run and in need of funds to pay off his debt to Jabba the Hutt, Solo agreed to fly Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker to Alderaan, for the right price of course. Unfortunately, Solo and the rest found out that Alderaan did not exist anymore. What they did find was the Death Star, the Empire's battle station responsible for the destruction of Alderaan. Solo unwillingly agreed to help free Princess Leia by donning Stormtrooper armor. After that fateful rescue misson, Solo becomes one of the greatest heroes of the Alliance and eventually marries Princess Leia. His highly modified, many times illegally, ship is quite useful throughout the trilogy as is his side-kick and good buddy, Chewbacca the Wookie. His past with Jabba the Hutt eventually comes back to haunt him when he is captured and frozen in carbonite by the bounty hunter Boba Fett. However, Solo learns the importance of his friends when they come to save him. Overall, some accomplishments under Solo's belt inlude: assisting in the rescue of Princess Leia and the destruction of the Death Star, saving Luke Skywalker from the barren wastes of Hoth, and destroying the second Death Star's shield generator on the forest moon of Endor, allowing his other good buddy Lando Clarissian to destory it, finally ending the Galactic War. Solo is one of the most memorable characters in the series and the movies would just not be the same without him.
