Admiral Piett

Piett was perhaps one of the most reliable Imperial officers in the Imperial Navy. Perhaps this was the reason he would become one of the few, the proud, those not killed by Darth Vader. Piett was originally a captain aboard Darth Vader's Star Destroyer the Executor during the Hoth campaign. When his superior Amiral Ozzel made the fatal mistake of coming out of hyperspace too close the Hoth system, Piett was immediately promoted to Admiral and took control of the ship. Piett was an inventive officer, always cautious around his superiors. In this way, Piett was able to obtain numerous promotions and shortly before the Battle of Endor, he was given command of the entire Imperial fleet. In fact, Piett only made two mistakes during his long service in the Galactic Civil War. The first was allowing the Millenium Falcon to escape Cloud City. Oddly enough, Piett was never punished for this as many of his former superiors likely would have been. His second mistake cost him his life. During the Battle of Endor Piett was confident that no Rebel fighter could touch his Super Star Destroyer. However, two Alliance A-Wing fighters were able to destroy the Star Destroyer's shield generators. Soon after, Rebel pilot Arvel Crynyd's A-Wing was hit and spun out of control hitting the Super Star Destroyer's bridge. Piett was instantly killed and his Super Star Destroyer collided with the second Death Star killing all hands on board his ship. Overall, Piett was one of the most brilliant Imperial officers the Empire ever had. Or perhaps he was just one very lucky guy.
