Sandtroopers are a special variation of the standard stormtrooper. These soldiers specialize in tracking, camouflage, and small-unit tactics. The are best accustomed to desert worlds and can survive easier on these planets than other troopers. The sandtrooper's armor has additional cooling units to further functionality and food and water packets to aid survival. Sandtroopers are much more independent than standard stormtroopers. This is out of necessity as they are sent on much longer and wider range missions on such barren wastelands as Tatooine. Among the sandtrooper's arsenal are heavy blasters and concussion grenade launchers. Sandtroopers were deployed after the Death Star plans were discovered to be on Tatooine. The troopers ruthlessly searched out the droids in possesion of the plans and almost succeeded. Unfortunately for them, the droids were able to escape aboard the Millenium Falcon along with Han Solo, Chewbacca, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Luke Skywalker.
