The Death Star is one of the biggest ships ever produced.  In fact, it is the size of a small moon.  It was created by the Empire mainly to destroy and capture planets.  It is armed with a large superlaser capable of detroying entire planets.  Grand Moff Tarkin used it to destroy Alderaan in  Star Wars: A New Hope.  It also has hunderds of turbolaser batteries to use against smaller attacking ships.  It also has many tractor beam projectors to use to pull ships in.  With all the weapons and its large size, Tarkin believed that it was indestructable.  However, the Rebels located a weakness in the form of a thermal exhaust port.  By launching two proton torpedos into the exhaust port, Luke Skywaler destroyed the entire Death Star and Tarkin with it.
