The At-At is one of the Empire's most pwerful ground assault vehicles.  It makes use of four legs to move and although it looks slow, it can actually go about 60 kph on flat ground.  It has two medium blaser cannons on the side of its "head" and two heavy laser cannons imbeded on its "chin."  It can carry many troops and even a couple AT-ST's.  AT-AT is an acronym for All Terrain Armored Transport and it means what it says.  The only way the Rebels could defeat these giant machines was to wrap a tow cable around their legs and trip them.  If you look closely, you can see Luke Skywalker hanging from the bottom of the one in the foreground.  He destroyed it with a thermal detonator.  These ships played a valuable role in The Battle of Hoth which is portrayed in The Empire Strikes Back.  The AT-AT has appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
